Princess Mononoke for Light Grey Art Lab’s gallery show GIRLS: Fact or Fiction.
8 x 10 Giclee Prints available here for 30$
The choice of subject became easy when I realized I only have one female tattooed on my body. San is the female lead in Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film Princess Mononoke. I’ve always been a sucker for a woman who was raised by wolves, figuratively and in this case quite literally.
I’m very happy to have been able to be part of this exhibition with over 100+ other great artists. Opening reception is Dec. 7th in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Special thanks to Lindsay Nohl and the people at Light Grey for organizing this.
I got many reblogs from “House of Mei and Satsuki”
So, I will explain it. This is the house that was made after the movie. It’s like a museum, and the every detail is pretty much the same which is cool. (Even that wobbly post!)
This is in Nagakute, Aichi prefecture in Japan. (Aichi’s capital city is Nagoya, so this place is close to Nagoya.)
If you are the biggest fan of Totoro, maybe you should visit. ^^
OH MY GOD
“The artistic image is always a metonym, where one thing is substituted for another, the smaller for the greater. To tell of what is living, the artist uses something dead; to speak of the infinite, he shows the finite. Substitution… the infinite cannot be made into matter, but it is possible to create an illusion of the infinite: the image.”
- Andrei Tarkovsky
